The Vivo V80 5G is a premium V-series smartphone that combines a high-refresh-rate OLED display, a large battery and a camera system developed around ZEISS imaging. In India, it starts at ₹62,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, with 256GB and 512GB options also available.
The phone has a glass-back design and measures 7.69mm thick while weighing around 203 grams. It is available in Stellar Black, Horizon Blue and Sunrise Anthem, and carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance.
At the front is a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with a resolution of 2750 × 1260 pixels and up to a 144Hz refresh rate. Vivo also lists 1.07 billion colours, P3 wide colour gamut support and up to 5,000 nits local peak brightness, making the screen well suited to multimedia, gaming and outdoor use.
Performance comes from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 Mobile Platform, built on a 4nm process. The phone uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, with no microSD expansion. Connectivity includes 5G, dual nano-SIM support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB Type-C.
Photography is one of the V80’s major strengths. It has a 50MP ZEISS OIS main camera, a 50MP ZEISS telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera. The front also gets a 50MP ZEISS autofocus camera. Rear and front cameras support 4K video recording at 60fps.
The 7,200mAh battery is paired with 90W FlashCharge. Vivo claims the phone can reach 50% in 30 minutes under its specified fast-charging conditions. Software is handled by OriginOS 7 based on Android 17, with AI features and up to six years of security updates.
The Vivo V80 5G is aimed at buyers who want a premium smartphone with particular emphasis on cameras, battery endurance and display quality. Its combination of a 1.5K 144Hz OLED panel and a 7,200mAh battery makes it especially attractive for users who spend considerable time watching content, browsing, gaming or travelling.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 provides a strong performance foundation for everyday use, multitasking and demanding applications. However, buyers looking primarily for the highest possible gaming performance may find that dedicated flagship-chipset phones offer greater headroom. The use of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage is also less ambitious than some similarly priced competitors that use newer memory standards. The camera setup is arguably the V80's biggest reason to consider it. The 50MP main camera combines OIS with a large Sony LYTIA 700V sensor, while the 50MP telephoto camera adds 3x optical zoom and optical stabilisation. The ZEISS tuning, portrait features and 4K 60fps recording make the phone particularly suitable for photography and social-media content creation. Battery life should be another strong point. The 7,200mAh capacity is unusually large for a relatively slim premium phone, while 90W charging helps reduce the inconvenience of recharging such a large battery. Overall, the Vivo V80 5G is a good choice for users who prioritise camera versatility, display smoothness, battery life and premium design. It is less compelling for buyers whose primary requirement is maximum gaming performance or the most advanced RAM and storage technology.
